A LITTLE ABOUT ME - YOUR COACH...
Hey there! I’m Matt Baker, New York City-based jazz pianist, accompanist, entrepreneur, coach and mentor.
I have lived in New York City for over 15 years now, and work as a jazz musician, portrait photographer and online entrepreneur.
I live on Manhattan's Upper West Side, perform all over the city, photograph many of New York's and the countries jazz stars, and run an online course for singers too that I created.
I love coffee, great food, live music, portrait photography, skiing, scuba diving, and astro-photography!
WHY I DECIDED TO OFFER THIS PROGRAM...
I have this desire in my life, now at my age to give back and not just do things that benefit and fulfill me. So with a bit of a push from Anita, I've decided to open up time and space in my life to coach and mentor a select group people who wish to have art and music and joy back into their lives, that they might have had at some point earlier in their lives, but have lost.
The way that I can do that is by bringing someone into my life, by either taking them around shows and concerts and showing them the world that I live in, letting them experience the music and the art that I experience, helping them with their own music and art - whether it's teaching them piano, helping them sing, assisting them in putting on a concert, or helping them fulfill those dreams and desires and aspirations they might have had since they were a child even and for a long time.
It’s a flexible program - it’s whatever works for them and whatever their needs may be - but the goal is to bring back music and joy into their lives. So, welcome to:

Our very own Anita Rogers has had the pleasure of working with me as her coach for the last year and more. Her goals were to step into the jazz world, vocally, learn the repertoire and style, learn how to work with an accompanist and band, and then as a final goal – put on a concert! – which many of you may have attended in May this year at the gallery.
This program is for people who desire to:
- Have an escape from their everyday life with something musical or artistic, that they maybe once had in earlier years.
- Live vicariously through the lives of one of New York’s top jazz musicians, attending performances and workshops and more.
- Learn piano (or any instrument) again, even just a little, for enjoyment.
- Sing, sing jazz, sing popular music, attend open mics and concerts, get up and sing for their friends, and possibly even put on their own show if desired and a real, reputable NYC venue.
