Matt is a world-renowned jazz musician heralded as “the Australian piano whiz” by The New York Times and described by British music executive Tony Hall as “one of the most respected and versatile pianist-composers yet.” Matt leads The Matt Baker Trio in New York and performs regularly at jazz venues including Birdland and The Blue Note.

He tours both within the USA and internationally and has released 6 albums to date. This will be the first time Matt is offering private one-on-one mentoring of this kind to the public.

A NOTE FROM MATT BAKER

I’ve never embarked on any part of my journey without teachers and mentors by my side. Whether it was in composition, piano, photography, or anything else—I've always had someone to turn to, for advice, guidance, and direct help in growing and creating what it is I'm setting out to achieve.

I now have this desire in my life at my age to not just do things that benefit and fulfill me, but to give back. I feel so lucky to be able to experience art and music every day of my life and I want to share that. With a bit of a push from Anita Rogers, I've decided to open up time and space in my life to coach and mentor a select group of people who wish to bring art, music, and joy back into their lives, that they might have had at some point, but have lost over the years. 

I do that by bringing someone into my life, by taking them to shows and concerts and showing them the world that I live in, letting them experience the music and the art that I experience, helping them with their own music and art - whether it's teaching them piano, helping them sing, assisting them in putting on a concert – and by helping them fulfill dreams, desires, and aspirations they haven’t had time to tend to.

I guide each mentee through creating a custom experience that meets their needs and goals. It’s a completely flexible program - it’s whatever works for each person and whatever their aspirations may be – the aim is to bring music and joy back into their lives.  

I hope you will allow me the honor and privilege of mentoring you. I look forward to spending a joyous and artistic month together, revisiting your dreams of the past, making your goals and aspirations a reality, and bringing the joy of music and art back into your life.
